The first facility provided by the internet is World Wide Web which refers to the collection of public Web sites connected to the Internet worldwide, together with the client devices such as computers and cell phones that access its content. (Bradley Mitchell, 2017) In 1989, Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web. It offered a more powerful and user-friendly interface than other internet applications. The web supported hyperlinks, allowing users to browse from one document to another with a single click. (Timothy B.Lee, 2015)
Secondly the internet provided E-mail. It is most common facility in the internet which owned by everyone who use a computer. By typing a unique Email address of the recipient and the content following by the clicking of “send”, the Email can be received by the recipient in a second. The examples of Email are Gmail, hotmail and yahoo mail. If you are a android phone user, you need to have your Gmail to access to Google play store for downloading any application into your phone.
Thirdly, file transfer protocol is one of the facilities provided by the internet. It allows people to upload and download the file through internet easily, especially the large file. It gives access to directories or folders on remote computers and allows software, data and text files to be transfer between different kinds of computers.(Unknown,2012)
Next facility is instant messaging which a real-time, text-based communication. The examples of the application are Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp and wechat. Through these free contact application, people can contact their friends in every moment. Compare to chat room, it usually involve between two users in a private, back-and-forth style of communication. (Margaret Rouse)
Social networking is one of the fastest growing and most significant Web 2.0 applications. It enables people interact with other users on social purposes, business purposes or both through sites. The examples of famous social networking site are Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn.(O’Leary, 2015)
Internet also leads to e-commerce. Through internet, people can buy and sell goods at any time from any place that consist good internet connection such as wifi. Other than that, It also supports other traditional business transitions such as renting, borrowing and lending. (La Berta,2012) It is widely used because it brings incentive for the owners and customers. - 7 references
