    The Australian Health Care System is funded by all levels of Government in conjunction with non-government organisations, private health insurers, and individuals when they pay for some products and services without full, or with only partial, reimbursement. The Federal Government - provides most of the funding for medical services and subsidised medicines. State and territory governments - fund most of the total expenditure for community health services. Funding of public hospital services is shared between the Australian Government and state and territory governments. The private sector funds private hospitals, pharmacies and medical practices. Private health Insurers also assist in funding
