These stages are often marked by special ceremonies signifying the transition from one stage to another by rituals and special ceremonies associating with each stage either based on tradition culture and religious beliefs. Each society primitive or otherwise has developed special ceremonies and rituals to introduce a new person born into a family. These general structure of ceremonies and rituals were categorized into a framework and proposed by the Belgian anthropologist Arnold van Gennep.
